1. Israel lähti sotaan filistealaisia vastaan ja leiriytyi Eben-Eserin luo, mutta filistealaiset olivat leiriytyneet Afekiin.

1 And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle and encamped beside Ebenezer and the Philistines encamped in Aphek.

1. Y SAMUEL habló a todo Israel: e Israel salió al encuentro en batalla a los Filisteos, y asentaron campo junto a Ebenezer: y los Filisteos asentaron el suyo en Afec.

1 И было слово Самуила ко всему Израилю. И выступили Израильтяне против Филистимлян на войну и расположились станом при Авен-Езере, а Филистимляне расположились при Афеке.

2. Ja filistealaiset asettuivat sotarintaan Israelia vastaan, ja taistelu levisi laajalle, ja filistealaiset voittivat Israelin ja surmasivat taistelukentällä noin neljätuhatta miestä.

2 And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel. And when they joined battle, Israel was struck before the Philistines; and they killed of the army in the field about four thousand men.

2. Y los Filisteos presentaron la batalla a Israel, y como la batalla se dió, Israel fué vencido delante de los Filisteos: los cuales hirieron en la batalla por el campo como cuatro mil hombres.

2 И выстроились Филистимляне против Израильтян, и произошла битва, и были поражены Израильтяне Филистимлянами, которые побили на полесражения около четырех тысяч человек.

3. Kun kansa tuli leiriin, sanoivat Israelin vanhimmat: Minkätähden Herra antoi tänä päivänä filistealaisten voittaa meidät? Ottakaamme Herran liitonarkki Siilosta luoksemme, tulkoon se keskellemme pelastamaan meidät vihollistemme käsistä.

3. Kuin kansa tuli leiriin, sanoivat Israelin vanhimmat: minkätähden Herra antoi meidän tänäpänä lyötää Philistealaisilta? Ottakaamme Herran liitonarkki Silosta tykömme ja antakaamme sen tulla keskellemme vapahtamaan meitä vihollistemme kädestä.

3. COsca Canssa tuli leirijn sanoit Israelin wanhimmat: mingätähden HERra andoi meidän tänäpänä lyötä Philistereildä? ottacam HERran lijton Arcki Silost meidän tygömme ja andacam hänen tulla meidän keskellem wapahtaman meitä meidän wiholistem kädest.

3 And when the people came into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Why has Jehovah struck us today before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of Shiloh to us, that it may come among us and save us out of the hand of our enemies.

3. And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

3. Und da das Volk ins Lager kam, sprachen die Ältesten Israels: Warum hat uns der HERR heute schlagen lassen vor den Philistern? Laßt uns zu uns nehmen die Lade des Bundes des HERRN von Silo und laßt sie unter uns kommen, daß sie uns helfe von der Hand unsrer Feinde.

3. Y como el pueblo volvió al campo, los ancianos de Israel dijeron: ¿Por qué nos ha herido hoy Jehová delante de los Filisteos? Traigamos a nosotros de Silo el arca del concierto de Jehová, para que viniendo ella entre nosotros nos salve de mano de nuestros enemigos.

3 И пришел народ в стан; и сказали старейшины Израилевы: за что поразил нас Господь сегодня пред Филистимлянами? возьмем себе из Силома ковчег завета Господня, и он пойдет среди нас и спасет нас от руки врагов наших.

4. Ja kansa lähetti sanan Siiloon, ja sieltä tuotiin Herran Sebaotin liitonarkki, hänen, jonka valtaistuinta kerubit kannattavat; ja Eelin kaksi poikaa, Hofni ja Piinehas, seurasivat sieltä Jumalan liitonarkkia.

4. Ja kansa lähetti Siloon, ja he antoivat sieltä tuoda Herran Zebaotin liitonarkin, joka istuu Kerubimin päällä. Ja siellä oli kaksi Elin poikaa, Hophni ja Pinehas, Jumalan liitonarkin kanssa.

4 So the people sent to Shiloh and they brought from there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah of hosts, who sits (above) the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

4. So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

4. Und das Volk sandte gen Silo und ließ von da holen die Lade des Bundes des HERRN Zebaoth, der über den Cherubim sitzt. Und es waren da die zwei Söhne Elis mit der Lade des Bundes Gottes, Hophni und Pinehas.

4. Y envió el pueblo a Silo, y trajeron de allá el arca del concierto de Jehová de los ejércitos, que estaba asentado entre los querubines: y los dos hijos de Elí, Ofni y Finees estaban allí con el arca del concierto de Dios:

4 И послал народ в Силом, и принесли оттуда ковчег завета Господа Саваофа, седящего на херувимах; а при ковчеге завета Божия были и двасына Илиевы, Офни и Финеес.

5. Ja kun Herran liitonarkki tuli leiriin, nosti koko Israel suuren riemuhuudon, niin että maa jymisi.

5 And when the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

5. Und da die Lade des Bundes des HERRN ins Lager kam, jauchzte das ganze Israel mit großem Jauchzen, daß die Erde erschallte.

5. Y aconteció, que como el arca del concierto de Jehová vino en el campo, todo Israel dió grita con tan gran júbilo, que la tierra tembló.

5 И когда прибыл ковчег завета Господня в стан, весь Израиль поднял такой сильный крик, что земля стонала.

6. Kun filistealaiset kuulivat sen riemuhuudon, sanoivat he: Mitä tuo suuri riemuhuuto on hebrealaisten leirissä? Ja he saivat tietää, että leiriin oli tullut Herran arkki.

6. Kuin Philistealaiset kuulivat ilohuudon, sanoivat he: mikä suuri ilohuuto on Hebrealaisten leirissä? Ja kuin he ymmärsivät Herran arkin tulleen leiriin,

6 And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What is the meaning of the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of Jehovah came into the camp.

6. And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

6. Da aber die Philister hörten das Geschrei solches Jauchzens, sprachen sie: Was ist das Geschrei solches großen Jauchzens in der Hebräer Lager? Und da sie erfuhren, daß die Lade des HERRN ins Lager gekommen wäre,

6. Y como los Filisteos oyeron la voz del júbilo, dijeron: ¿Qué voz de gran júbilo es esta en el campo de los Hebreos? Y conocieron que el arca de Jehová había venido al campo.

6 И услышали Филистимляне шум восклицаний и сказали: отчего такие громкие восклицания в стане Евреев? И узнали, что ковчег Господень прибыл встан.

7. Silloin filistealaiset peljästyivät, sillä he ajattelivat: Jumala on tullut leiriin. Ja he sanoivat: Voi meitä! Tällaista ei ole milloinkaan ennen tapahtunut.

7. Pelkäsivät Philistealaiset ja sanoivat: Jumala on tullut leiriin. Ja vielä sitte sanoivat: voi meitä! sillä ei se ole ennen niin ollut.

7. Pelkäisit he heitäns ja sanoit: Jumala on tullut leirijn. Ja wielä sijtte sanoit: woi meitä: sillä ei se ole ennen nijn ollut.

7 And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God has come into the camp. And they said, Woe to us! For there has not been such a thing yesterday and the day before.

7. And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

7. fürchteten sie sich und sprachen: Gott ist ins Lager gekommen; und sprachen weiter: Wehe uns! denn es ist zuvor nicht also gestanden.

7. Y los Filisteos hubieron miedo, porque dijeron: Ha venido el Dios al campo. Y dijeron: ¡Ay de nosotros! que ayer ni anteayer no fué así.

7 И устрашились Филистимляне, ибо сказали: Бог тот пришел к ним в стан. И сказали: горе нам! ибо не бывало подобного ни вчера, ни третьего дня;

8. Voi meitä! Kuka pelastaa meidät tämän voimallisen jumalan kädestä? Tämähän on se jumala, joka löi egyptiläisiä kaikkinaisilla vaivoilla erämaassa.

8. Voi meitä! kuka pelastaa meitä näiden suurten jumalain käsistä? Nämät ovat ne jumalat, jotka löivät Egyptin korvessa kaikkinaisilla rangaistuksilla.

8. Woi meitä cuca pelasta meitä näiden wäkewäin Jumalten käsist? nämät owat ne Jumalat jotca Egyptin löit corwes caickinaisilla rangaistuxilla.

8 Woe to us! Who will deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that killed* the Egyptians with all manner of plagues in the wilderness.

8. Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

8. Wehe uns! Wer will uns erretten von der Hand dieser mächtigen Götter, die Ägypten schlugen mit allerlei Plage in der Wüste.

8. ¡Ay de nosotros! ¿Quién nos librará de la mano de estos dioses fuertes? Estos son los dioses que hirieron a Egipto con toda plaga en el desierto.

8 горе нам! кто избавит нас от руки этого сильного Бога? Это – тот Бог, Который поразил Египтян всякими казнями в пустыне;

9. Rohkaiskaa mielenne ja olkaa miehiä, filistealaiset, ettette te joutuisi palvelemaan hebrealaisia, niinkuin he ovat palvelleet teitä. Olkaa miehiä ja taistelkaa.

9. Olkaat siis rohkiat sydämestä ja olkaat miehet, Philistealaiset, ettei teidän pitäisi palveleman Hebrealaisia, niinkuin he ovat teitä palvelleet: olkaat miehet ja sotilaat!

9. Olcat sijs rohkiat sydämest ja olcat miehet Philisterit ettei teidän pitäis palweleman Ebrerejä nijncuin he owat teitä palwellet. Olcat miehet ja soticat.

9 Be strong and strengthen yourselves like men, O you* Philistines, that you* are not servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you*. Conduct yourselves like men and fight.

9. Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

9. So seid nun getrost ihr Männer, ihr Philister, daß ihr nicht dienen müßt den Hebräern, wie sie euch gedient haben! Seid Männer und streitet!

9. Esforzáos y sed varones Filisteos, porque no sirváis a los Hebreos, como ellos os han servido a vosotros. Sed varones, y peleád.

9 укрепитесь и будьте мужественны, Филистимляне, чтобы вам не быть в порабощении у Евреев, как они у вас в порабощении; будьте мужественны и сразитесь с ними.

10. Ja filistealaiset ryhtyivät taisteluun; ja Israel voitettiin, niin että he pakenivat kukin majallensa, ja tappio oli sangen suuri: Israelista kaatui kolmekymmentä tuhatta jalkamiestä.

10. Niin Philistealaiset sotivat, ja Israel lyöttiin, ja jokainen pakeni majaansa, ja se oli sangen suuri tappo, niin että Israelista kaatui kolmekymmentä tuhatta jalkamiestä.

10 And the Philistines fought and Israel was struck and they fled every man to his tent. And there was a very great slaughter, for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

10. And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

10. Da stritten die Philister, und Israel ward geschlagen, und ein jeglicher floh in seine Hütte; und es war eine sehr große Schlacht, daß aus Israel fielen dreißigtausend Mann Fußvolk.

10. Y los Filisteos pelearon, e Israel fué vencido, y huyeron cada cual a sus tiendas, y fué hecha muy grande mortandad: y cayeron de Israel treinta mil hombres de a pié.

10 И сразились Филистимляне, и поражены были Израильтяне, и каждый побежал в шатер свой, и было поражение весьма великое, и пало из Израильтян тридцать тысяч пеших.

11. Ja Jumalan arkki ryöstettiin, ja Eelin kaksi poikaa, Hofni ja Piinehas, saivat surmansa.

11. Ja Jumalan arkki otettiin pois; ja kaksi Elin poikaa, Hophni ja Pinehas, kuolivat.

11 And the ark of God was taken and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were killed.

11. And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

11. Und die Lade Gottes ward genommen, und die zwei Söhne Elis, Hophni und Pinehas, starben.

11. Y el arca de Dios fué tomada, y muertos los dos hijos de Elí, Ofni y Finees.

11 И ковчег Божий был взят, и два сына Илиевы, Офни и Финеес, умерли.

12. Eräs benjaminilainen mies juoksi sotarinnasta ja tuli samana päivänä Siiloon, takki reväistynä ja multaa pään päällä.

12. Silloin juoksi sotajoukosta yksi BenJaminilainen ja tuli sinä päivänä Siloon; ja hän oli reväissyt vaatteensa ja viskonut multaa päänsä päälle.

12 And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army and came to Shiloh the same day, with his clothes torn and with dirt upon his head.

12. Da lief einer von Benjamin aus dem Heer und kam gen Silo desselben Tages und hatte seine Kleider zerrissen und hatte Erde auf sein Haupt gestreut.

12. Y corriendo de la batalla un varón de Benjamín vino aquel día a Silo, rotos sus vestidos, y echada tierra sobre su cabeza.

12 И побежал один Вениамитянин с места сражения и пришел в Силом втот же день; одежда на нем была разодрана и прах на голове его.

13. Ja kun hän tuli sinne, istui Eeli istuimellaan tien vieressä tähystellen, sillä hänen sydämensä oli levoton Jumalan arkin tähden. Ja kun mies tuli ja kertoi kaupungissa tapahtumasta, puhkesi koko kaupunki valittamaan.

13 And when he came behold, Eli was sitting upon his seat by the wayside watching, for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city and told it, all the city cried out.

13. Und siehe, als er hineinkam, saß Eli auf dem Stuhl, daß er den Weg sähe; denn sein Herz war zaghaft über die Lade Gottes. Und da der Mann in die Stadt kam, sagte er's an, und die ganze Stadt schrie.

13 Когда пришел он, Илий сидел на седалище при дороге у ворот и смотрел, ибо сердце его трепетало за ковчег Божий. И когда человек тот пришел и объявил в городе, то громко восстенал весь город.

14. Kun Eeli kuuli valitushuudon, kysyi hän: Mikä meteli tämä on? Niin mies tuli rientäen sinne ja kertoi sen Eelille.

14. Ja kuin Eli kuuli korkian huudon äänen, kysyi hän: mikä kapina tämä on? Niin tuli mies nopiasti ja ilmoitti sen Elille.

14 And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What does the noise of this tumult mean? And the man hastened and came and told Eli.

14. And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

14. Und da Eli das laute Schreien hörte, fragte er: Was ist das für ein lautes Getümmel? Da kam der Mann eilend und sagte es Eli an.

14. Y como Elí oyó el estruendo del grito, dijo: ¿Qué estruendo de alboroto es este? Y aquel hombre vino a priesa, y dió las nuevas a Elí.

14 И услышал Илий звуки вопля и сказал: отчего такой шум? И тотчас подошел человек тот и объявил Илию.

15. Mutta Eeli oli yhdeksänkymmenen kahdeksan vuoden vanha, ja hänen silmissään oli kaihi, niin ettei hän voinut nähdä.

15 Now Eli was ninety-eight years old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see.

15. Eli aber war achtundneunzig Jahre alt, und seine Augen waren dunkel, daß er nicht sehen konnte.

15. Y era Elí de edad de noventa y ocho años: y sus ojos se habían oscuredido, que no podía ver.

15 Илий был тогда девяноста восьми лет; и глаза его померкли, и он не мог видеть.

16. Ja mies sanoi Eelille: Minä tulen sotarinnasta; olen tänä päivänä paennut sotarinnasta. Niin hän kysyi: Miten on asiat, poikani?

16. Ja mies sanoi Elille: minä olen tullut ja paennut tänäpänä sotajoukosta. Mutta hän sanoi: kuinka käy, poikani?

16 And the man said to Eli, I am he who came out of the army and I fled today out of the army. And he said, How did the matter go, my son?

16. And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

16. Der Mann aber sprach zu Eli: Ich komme und bin heute aus dem Heer geflohen. Er aber sprach: Wie geht es zu, mein Sohn?

16. Y dijo aquel varón a Elí: Yo vengo de la batalla, yo he huido hoy de la batalla. Y él le dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido, hijo mío?

16 И сказал тот человек Илию: я пришел из стана, сегодня же бежал я с места сражения. И сказал Илий : что произошло, сын мой?

17. Sanansaattaja vastasi ja sanoi: Israel on paennut filistealaisia, ja kansan mieshukka on suuri; myöskin sinun molemmat poikasi, Hofni ja Piinehas, ovat saaneet surmansa, ja Jumalan arkki on ryöstetty.

17 And he who brought the news answered and said, Israel has fled before the Philistines and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. And your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead and the ark of God is taken.

17. And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

17. Da antwortete der Verkündiger und sprach: Israel ist geflohen vor den Philistern, und ist eine große Schlacht im Volk geschehen, und deine zwei Söhne, Hophni und Pinehas, sind gestorben; dazu die Lade Gottes ist genommen.

17. Y el mensajero respondió, y dijo: Israel huyó delante de los Filisteos, y también fué hecha gran mortandad en el pueblo; y también tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees son muertos; y el arca de Dios fué tomada.

17 И отвечал вестник и сказал: побежал Израиль пред Филистимлянами, и поражение великое произошло в народе, и оба сына твои, Офни и Финеес, умерли, и ковчег Божий взят.

18. Kun hän mainitsi Jumalan arkin, kaatui Eeli istuimeltaan taapäin portin viereen, taittoi niskansa ja kuoli; sillä hän oli vanha ja raskas mies. Ja hän oli ollut tuomarina Israelissa neljäkymmentä vuotta.

18 And it happened, when he made mention of the ark of God, that (Eli) fell from his seat backward by the side of the gate. And his neck broke and he died, for he was an old man and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

18. Da er aber der Lade Gottes gedachte, fiel er zurück vom Stuhl am Tor und brach seinen Hals entzwei und starb; denn er war alt und ein schwerer Mann. Er richtete aber Israel vierzig Jahre.

18 Когда упомянул он о ковчеге Божием, Илий упал с седалища навзничь у ворот, сломал себе хребет и умер; ибо он был стар и тяжел. Был же он судьею Израиля сорок лет.

19. Ja hänen miniänsä, Piinehaan vaimo, oli viimeisillänsä raskaana. Kun hän kuuli sanoman Jumalan arkin ryöstöstä ja appensa ja miehensä kuolemasta, vaipui hän maahan ja synnytti, sillä poltot yllättivät hänet.

19 And his daughter-in-law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered. And when she heard the news that the ark of God was taken and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and brought forth, for her pains came upon her.

19. Su nuera, la mujer de Finees, que estaba preñada, cercana al parto, oyendo el rumor que el arca de Dios era tomada, y su suegro muerto, y su marido, encorvóse y parió; porque sus dolores se habían ya derramado por ella.

19 Невестка его, жена Финеесова, была беременна уже пред родами. И когда услышала она известие о взятии ковчега Божия и о смерти свекра своегои мужа своего, то упала на колени и родила, ибо приступили к ней боли ее.

20. Ja kun hän silloin oli kuolemaisillansa, sanoivat vaimot, jotka seisoivat hänen luonaan: Älä pelkää, sillä sinä olet synnyttänyt pojan. Mutta hän ei vastannut mitään eikä välittänyt siitä,

20 And about the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, Do not fear, for you have brought out a son. But she did not answer, neither did she regard it.

20. Y al tiempo que se moría decíanle las que estaban junto a ella: No tengas temor; porque has parido hijo. Mas ella no respondió, ni paró mientes.

20 И когда умирала она, стоявшие при ней женщины говорили ей: не бойся, ты родила сына. Но она не отвечала и не обращала внимания.

21. vaan nimitti pojan Iikabodiksi ja sanoi: Kunnia on mennyt Israelilta — hän tarkoitti Jumalan arkin ryöstöä ja appeansa ja miestänsä.

21. Y llamó al niño Icabod, diciendo: Cautiva es la gloria de Israel, (por el arca de Dios, que era tomada; y porque era muerto su suegro, y su marido.)
